FAQ
IS PHI SIGMA PI CO-ED?
Yes! Phi Sigma Pi is indeed gender-inclusive! Although all members are referred to as "brothers", we welcome all genders at Phi Sigma Pi!
DO YOU HAVE BIGS AND LITTLES?
Yes! We do have Bigs and Littles here at Phi Sigma Pi! And we try to make sure that your Big will be the best Big for you!
DO YOU HAVE A CHAPTER ROOM?
Yes we do! It's not a standalone building like many "frat houses", but it's a cozy space all our own!
IF I JOIN PHI SIGMA PI, CAN I STILL JOIN ANOTHER SOCIAL SORORITY/FRATERNITY?
Yes! Because Phi Sigma Pi is an Honor Fraternity, we let Brothers also join a Social Sorority or Social Fraternity!
WHAT MAKES PHI SIGMA PI DIFFERENT FROM OTHER FRATERNITIES AND SORORITIES?
We have purpose. We still do social events and bond as brothers, but we also have a goal. We strive to be better leaders and learners and friends, and Phi Sigma Pi helps us do that. It's a home away from home, but it's also a gateway into a better future.
DO YOU HAVE DUES?
Yes. We have both Chapter dues and National dues, but both of those combined are often less than or equal to your average Social Fraternity or Social Sorority dues. Because they fluctuate from semester to semester, we can't predict an exact amount for a future semester upon request.
WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR GETTING INTO PHI SIGMA PI?
Potential new members are required to have completed at least one semester of college before applying, and to have a 3.0 average GPA.
WHAT'S THE INITIATION PROCESS LIKE?
- First, you will be asked a small list of questions (generally at a rush event) to tell Brothers a little about you.
- Then, the Chapter votes on whether to make you an Initiate.
- Once you become an Initiate, you will meet the other Initiates and will be taught the basic Chapter procedures and history by the Initiate Advisor.
- After weekly meetings with the other Initiates and your Initiate Advisor, you will eventually take an exam to test your knowledge.
- During your Initiation, you and the other Initiates will be asked to plan a small event that encompasses all three pillars of the Tripod (Scholarship, Fellowship, and Leadership)
- After your Initiate Event has concluded and your exam has been taken, the Brothers will once again vote to move you from Initiate to Brother.
- After this vote, you will then go through the ritual to become a bona fide Brother of Phi Sigma Pi.
NOTE: AT NO POINT IN THIS PROCESS WILL YOU BE HAZED! PHI SIGMA PI HAS A STRICT NO HAZING POLICY!
